Destiny will find you.

Izzy has always loved the freedom and adventure of life on the road, but she’s recently decided to settle down—as much as a rogue wolf can. When her boyfriend gets her a job working at a hot Shifter bar, she runs into the last person on earth she expected to see again.

Jericho isn’t the famous rock star he once was, though he still plays in a local band and loves to party. Beautiful women come and go, but music is his only passion—until a sassy redhead named Isabelle Monroe shows up unexpectedly.

Fate reunites two former friends living with one foot in the present and the other in the past. But will they have a future when one of them is forced to choose between life and death? Old habits die hard, and sometimes the toughest addictions to shake are the ones that control our hearts.

Bad-ass shifters – and an amazing female MC made Five Weeks an amazing read!

My Five Weeks review:

Five Weeks includes everything I love in Ms. Dark’s UF universe! There is romance and a lot of tension, characters that seem very real with flaws and qualities, an amazing story and a well-executed plot. The writing is really good, mostly from Izzy’s point of view, first person, in past tense, but with some third person passages as well. It was a true pleasure to get to know Jericho better, he intrigued me quite a bit in both Seven Years and Six Months, with his distant way of interacting with his brothers in the Weston household.

Izzy also appealed to me from the beginning, a feisty female wolf, able to take care of herself and all the clients in the bar, she showed a lot of integrity and strength. Five Weeks also showed how Izzy and Jericho had gotten to know each other in the past, and that they had a lot of unresolved issues between them. That made the tension palpable, because there were strong feelings neither of them had admitted to before.

The main intrigue in Five Weeks came from Hawk, Izzy’s ex. He was into some bad stuff, and when he didn’t pay up what he owed, the bad guys came after Izzy. The way the Weston pack worked together, and also how suspicious they were of Izzy, despite Jericho telling them to ease up, made the story suspenseful as well as romantic and interesting. The character development was very well done, because both Jericho and Izzy had some growing up to do – despite their actual age, and neither of them were giving their trust easily.

If you are looking for an urban fantasy in which you can feel completely immersed, Five Weeks should do the job nicely.

Some of my favorite Five Weeks quotes:

Shifters were prohibited from changing into their animal in a Breed bar, but he’d been know to do it at the end of his act. It had gotten him kicked out of a few clubs, but nothing beat the reaction from the women when he revealed his animal onstage.

No woman had ever made him want to be a better man, one who would spill blood to protect what he loved. No woman had ever incited the hunter in him. No woman had ever denied him. Except one.

After all, my own family hadn’t looked out for me. How could I expect strangers to?

Because of that distrust, I never revealed my animal to anyone except close friends or lovers. I’d never experienced what it meant to be in a pack, but the instinct called to me in quiet moments.
