In charming Verily, New York, Kate Seymour has a smashing success with Kinnections, the matchmaking service she owns with her two best girlfriends. But Kate’s more than a savvy businesswoman: She’s gifted with a secret power, a jolting touch that signals when love’s magic is at work. It rocked her when she picked up a strange volume of love spells in the town’s used bookstore . . . and it zapped her again when she encountered Slade Montgomery, the hot-tempered—and hot-bodied— divorce lawyer who storms into Kinnections demanding proof that playing Cupid won’t destroy his vulnerable sister, Kate’s newest client. The only way to convince this cynic that she’s no fraud, and that love is no mirage, is for Kate to meet his audacious challenge: find him his dream woman. Can Kate keep their relationship strictly business when her electrifying attraction nearly knocked her off her feet? Or has the matchmaker finally met her match?

Searching for Someday is a very sweet romance, where Kate tries her best to just be a good friend, a good manager and leave dating to other people. After her disastrous date – number 100 – she thinks that dating is not for her, she should just use her skills to help other people towards happiness instead. A little bit quirky at times, Searching for Someday is a satisfying read, and I got to love both Kate and Slade, as well as Kennedy and Arilyn. I know for sure that this is a series I will continue to read – both the romance aspect, the characters and the way the story is told is well done.

Slade is a divorce attorney, and he only sees the bad that happens in marriages so to say he has a jaded view of happily ever after is putting it very lightly. Searching for Someday really is more about Kate and her road searching for that special someone, though. Both Slade and Kate are very stubborn, and they are both afraid of giving another person their all. Kate feels as if she can’t share every part of herself, especially because the women in her family have this gift that helps them know when they have found their soul mate. Kate’s gift is bigger than that, though, she can also feel an electrical current when she sees two people who are meant to be together – pretty nifty for a matchmaker, eh?

The friendships have an important role in Searching for Someday, and I really enjoyed the easy banter between Kate and her girlfriends, but also the chemistry and quips between Kate and Slade. The one reason Slade signed up at Kinnections is to protect his sister, whom he is overly protective of. Little did he know that true love was in the cards for him – but not at all in a woman who seemed to be everything he wanted. Kate is the opposite of what he thinks he needs in his life, but he just cant’ get her out of his mind. Once he sets his mind on seducing her, she has no idea what hit her, and her ‘no dating clients’ policy is quickly gone from her mind.

Humor, friendship, romance, hot bedroom scenes and the cutest dog ever is what makes the story of Searching for Someday so awesome. It is well written, with a way to show the readers both the characters, their reactions and their surroundings that is expertly done. If you are looking for an adult contemporary romance that will both make you smile, and your heart race, Searching for Someday should make its way to your TBR shelf, and then into your hands as soon as possible.

How many times had she gotten an electrical shock from a couple who were soul mates?

How many men had she surrendered to other women because she realized her date belonged with the waitress, or customer service representative or store clerk? It served her well as a matchmaker but was pure hell on her personal life.

She pitied his clients. The man was all muscle and towering length, easily topping six four with massive shoulders, and a tight chest clearly shown through his white dress shirt. He didn’t just walk, he prowled. his tawny locks were a mass of thick messy waves her fingers itched to touch, and those jungle-green eyes pinned a woman to the wall and did bad things to her.

For the first time in his life, a feeling he’d never experienced invaded his body and soul and mind. Peace.

The image of his kiss mocked her thoughts and screamed her a liar. She wanted to do something with him all right. Preferably naked, dirty things that shouldn’t be imagined.

The other women seemed to have the same reaction. Their gazes lit up with anticipation and moved over his figure like hungry she-wolves ready to feast. And mate.

What was it about the angles of her face, the fall of her hair over her brow, the stubborn tilt to her chin? Separately they were nothing extraordinary. Together, they held him almost… spellbound.
