I still need to take some notes and sort out the chapters, as I'll have to write a paper on this and another book about the reform movement in language teachings.
There are a lot of interesting theories here, and it astounds me that the book was first published in 1899! There isn't really a 'red thread' here, though, and I think it would have been easier to realize Sweet's different thoughts if the chapters had been organized a little differently.
