Adrian Blackstone built a million-dollar business with hard work and determination—and by remaining professional at all times. Denying his longtime attraction to his beautiful executive assistant hasn't been easy but it's necessary. She's indispensable, and he can't stand the thought of losing her if things didn't work out.
For more than a year, Rachel Carter has been quietly dreaming of all the ways she'll never seduce her sexy, buttoned-up boss. She's worked too hard to get where she is to cross that line, no matter how badly she'd like to act on her fantasies. But then a wicked snowstorm leaves them stranded in a romantic winter wonderland…
What begins as a single kiss and a few bad Santa jokes turns into a weekend full of breathless passion and hopes for something more. But with Monday comes a return to their complicated reality—and Adrian must prove that promises made are promises kept, especially at Christmastime.
*I received a free ARC of Snowbound with the CEO from Carina Press via Netgalley in exchange of an honest review*
Snowbound with the CEO is a short but sweet romance, set between the CEO and his executive assistant. They have been lusting for each other for a long time, but neither of them wants to make a go for it, afraid things will become awkward at work if they do. Then, they are in New Hampshire for a very important meeting, but the meeting never happens. Because of the heavy snowfall, the client is stuck in Boston, an Adrian and Rachel are stuck in New Hampshire – all alone, with not much to do, apart from maybe acting out those sexual fantasies they’ve both had for ages.
The interactions between Adrian and Rachel in Snowbound with the CEO are really sweet and very believable. They are both afraid of how the other will react, if taking the chance of a different kind of relationship might ruin the way they work so well together. At the same time, they are both unable to resist the temptation, finally finding out what it feels like to kiss, to touch, to feel as close as they have dreamed of – and they really aren’t disappointed.
I really enjoyed both Rachel and Adrian! The assistant who is afraid to lose her job, but who takes a huge chance and goes for it anyway, it does take guts to do that. Especially because she really loves her job. Adrian is a very modern CEO, and he doesn’t count on Rachel to make his coffee… and he’s even capable of making her a cup instead. Snowbound with the CEO is a very short story, but I still felt like I got to know the characters well, and I got them both – on top of that, the story has some hot fluffy scenes that I enjoyed immensely.
Of course, the fairy-tale ends abruptly as soon as they arrive home and in the office again. They are once more shy and a little distant, neither wants to show their true feelings for fear those feelings aren’t reciprocated. If you’re looking for a delightful Christmas romance, you should pick up Snowbound with the CEO, it is short but satisfying.
Once she’d led the way to the conference room, design by him to be warm and comfortable even for all-day meetings, he brewed them each a mug of coffee while she opened her laptop and got to work. After adding cream and sugar to hers, he set it next to her computer and took his to the other end of the table.
“Since I haven’t been here since we finished the renovations, what is there to do in this place?” Get naked, have wild sex with the boss and wake up blissfully satisfied, if imminently unemployed?
Number thirty-two, or there abouts, on Rachel’s list of one hundred and one ways to seduce her boss was to pretend to be a stranger in a bar. Being mistaken for a stranger in a bar was close enough to send a little sizzle down her spine.
