What does it mean when your school is voted the most dangerous in America?
It's time to kick some hellion butt...

After not really surviving her junior year (does "undead" count as survival?), Kaylee Cavanaugh has vowed to take back her school from the hellions causing all the trouble. She's going to find a way to turn the incarnations of Avarice, Envy and Vanity against one another in order to protect her friends and finish this war, once and forever.

But then she meets Wrath and understands that she's closer to the edge than she's ever been. And when one more person close to her is taken, Kaylee realizes she can't save everyone she loves without risking everything she has...

With All My Soul wraps up the Soul Screamers series pretty neatly, actually almost a little bit too neatly for my taste. I really loved this whole series, but some of the things that happened in With All My Soul just seemed a little like the easy way out when it comes to resolving some problems, and not actually telling enough of the planning to the readers. I’m sure the plan was to sweep us off our feet with Kaylee’s courage and smarts, but I ended up feeling a little bit cheated in the very end.

As I said, everything gets neatly wrapped up, and while I get why Kaylee did what she did to save people, I guess I kind of wish the story would have unfolded a little bit differently. There was a lot less romance in With All My Soul, and I would have loved some more interactions and funny banter between the characters I’ve come to know and love over the span of a couple of years. The writing is flawless, though, and the excitement is ever-present. And Kaylee has grown a lot from the beginning of the series with My Soul to Take.

Of course, With All My Soul is definitely a must-read for all fans of the Soul Screamers series, and even for those readers who somehow haven’t stumbled on to this one yet, it’s a very well done YA series, with a different kind of paranormal, and while the characters are young, they are not annoying, and there are some parental figures around to try to keep them in line. I love the world-building in this series, and also the fact that it is different from my usual paranormal reads. The characters are all well fleshed out, from the cunning hellions to the soulscreamers, and I have enjoyed the ride a lot.

“We’re not.” I smiled. I was proud of my plan, even if it still had a few kinks to work out. “You were right, – we can’t hurt them. But they can hurt one another. A lot, hopefully. Maybe they can even kill each other.”

“You couldn’t keep me out of this if you tried,” Sabine said. “This place is dull when there’s no evil afoot.” “When is that, exactly?” Tod gave her a sardonic grin, and Sabine returned it.

Tod laughed. He was always able to find humor in even the creepiest situations. I’d thought that was an undead thing, until I became a member of the undead. Then I realized it was a Tod-thing.

“Yeah.” Sarcasm dripped from the word as Tod pushed pale curls back from his face, and I could feel my own cheeks flame. “Not having to worry about teen pregnancy totally makes up for the fact that we’re dead.” His eyes flashed in anger, probably on my behalf. “Every time I think you’ve reached the pinnacle of insensitivity, you exceed your own reach.”

“And I happen to know there isn’t an appropriate thought running through your head right now. “Or any other time.”
