One night is never enough...

Jobless, broke, and struggling to support herself and her invalid mother, paramedic Sophie Miller doesn’t have time or energy for a relationship. Especially with her mother’s clock ticking down. So when the sexy cowboy she meets at a carnival proposes a no-strings, one-night stand, she’s all over it. Until her one-night stand shows up again and turns out to be everything she’s ever wanted.

Tucker Haywood has his hands full running Paint River Ranch and trying to deal with all the changes pulling the rug out from under him. His past has taught him it’s better to keep women at arm’s length, for their sake. Stubborn and temperamental, Tucker doesn’t have a clue how to deal with a city girl who’s scared of squirrels and dirt.

So when Sophie gets under his skin, he has to do whatever it takes to push her away. Even if it means losing the part of himself he never thought he’d find.

Stubborn, hot cowboy… Hot, sweet city chick… One Night with a Cowboy is a reluctant romance that got me crying huge, fat tears in the end.

My One Night with a Cowboy review:

One Night with a Cowboy is hot, sweet and filled with both romance and heartache. And because – cowboy! – it’s also the kind of contemporary story I just love to read. I don’t know what it is about cowboys, apart from the fact that there are none in Switzerland, but I just find them hot, funny and charismatic in my books. Tucker is no different, he is all that, and much more. Sophie is an awesome character as well, she has so much to deal with, a little fun with the hunk of a cowboy she met at the carnival seems like just what the doctor ordered. They will never meet again, so she feels free and strong, and she has the time of her life hidden in plain view with Tucker.

Of course, Tucker and Sophie do meet again, and they’re both embarrassed, happy, and kind of angry about it. Sophie has not at all planned on anything permanent, but Tucker just could be the one she’d want to try that with. One Night with a Cowboy is sweet and tender in moments, and it’s so obvious Sophie is not a country gal. Tucker, however thinks that she is both a nuisance and all his dreams come true in one beautiful woman.

Written in third person past tense, One Night with a Cowboy managed to let me get to know both Sophie and Tucker quite well, and I really enjoyed both of them. Feeling overwhelmed with everything in her life, Sophie just wanted a little bit of fun before helping her sister take care of their mother who had been in a coma for a long time. The sadness I felt because of Sophie’s situation is still with me now, although it’s been a while since I finished reading One Night with a Cowboy. Having no real direction, while still needing to deal with the loss of a parent and a very nosy and strict older sister, Sophie really needed both fun and romance in her life. Tucker was the one to give her that, and so much more!

Some of my favorite One Night with a Cowboy quotes:

Living in the city as long as she had, Sophie had no real experience with country boys and the cowboy’s rugged hotness reminded her she really needed to make up for that.

“Honey, anything you want to do with my mouth is fine by me,” he drawled, giving her a once over that he wouldn’t have been able to avoid if he’d tried. Which he didn’t. She gave him a long, hard look before a slow smiled tipped up her lips.
